Bu dans gösterisi, İsviçreli dansçı ve koreograf Mirjam Barakar ile dört Filistinli dansçı arasında bir işbirliğiyle yaratıldı. Eser, 2023 yılında Ramallah Çağdaş Dans Festivali (RCDF) bünyesinde bir rezidans sırasında ortaya çıktı ve 2024
DEVAMIyılında Zürih'te daha da geliştirildi. Dabke (Filistin folklorik dansı) ve çağdaş dans unsurları, bir süreçten geçerek geliştirilmiş ve somutlaşmış sosyo-politik çatışmalarda ifade bularak yeni bir hareket diline dönüşmüştür. Performans için özel olarak oluşturulmuş oryantal-elektronik öğelerden oluşan bir müzik, bizi hem etkiliyor hem de baştan çıkarıyor. Aynı şekilde dansçıların kişilikleri de; dansları "bir volkanın üzerinde dans etmeye" benziyor ve bedenleri anlatıcı enstrümanlar olarak bizi "güçlerin oyuncağı" olan insanlara yaklaştırıyor. Günümüz Filistin'i duvarlar ve çitlerle ayrılmış bir yama işi battaniyeyi andırıyor. Oyun aracılığıyla, daha büyük politik güçlerden etkilenen insanların durumunu daha derinlemesine anlamak için bir platform sağlıyoruz. Orta Doğu'daki mevcut durumun arka planında, izleyiciyi bir diyaloğa davet ediyoruz.

This dance performance was created in collaboration between the Swiss-based dancer and choreographer Mirjam Barakar and four Palestinian dancers. The piece was created during a residency at the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival (RCDF) in 2023 and was further developed in Zurich in 2024. Elements of Dabke (Palestinian folkloric dance) and contemporary dance, developed through a process, are expressed in embodied socio-political conflicts and merge into a new movement language. A soundtrack of oriental-electronic elements created especially for the performance touches and seduces us. Likewise the dancers' personalities; their dance resembles a “dance on a volcano”, and their bodies as narrative instruments bring us closer to the people in the “plaything of powers”. Palestine today resembles a patchwork quilt separated by walls and fences. Through the play, we provide a platform to gain a deeper understanding of the situation of people who are influenced by larger political forces. Against the backdrop of the current situation in the Middle East, we invite the audience to enter into a dialog.
